The Shooting Star Classics
(Ray & Deana's Band)
The Shooting Star Classics are a talented four-man vocal group that pays tribute to the greatest music of the past fifty years. Based in Northeast Ohio, The Classics perform everything from Doo-Wop, to Motown, to Classic Rock, to Country. These four incredibly gifted singers will blow you away with their crystal-clear vocals and seamless harmonies.
MEET THE CLASSICS!
Chuck Shaffer - Born and raised on the mean streets of Struthers, Ohio, Chuck is the official powerhouse member of the group. His raw energy and impressive vocals are enough to bring even the most timid out onto the dance floor. Chuck has been involved in anything related to music pretty much his entire life from Show Choir in high school to singing lead in a number of bands around the area and of course singing with the other members of the Classics for over the past ten or so years. Hey, we're just thankful he ended up with us.
Mike Nyers - Despite the fact that Mike is usually credited as being the shortest member of the group, don ’t let his stature fool you. Mike’s smooth sound will definitely give you something to look up to. Having played guitar and a little piano for over fifteen years, Mike has a good ear for music. It was only a matter of time until he expanded his musical talents in the vocal department as well. The only problem? Getting up in front of people to sing. "I’ve always been a little shy. I get nervous singing in the shower sometimes". Well, we’re not sure about that last part. Mike seems to have gotten over his fears and we can only leave you with one small piece of advice...just try not to get too close to him on the dance floor when he starts busting out some of those "crazy" dance moves.
Brian Kerr - Another co-founder of the Classics, Brian grew up listening to Jazz, Classical, Rock, R&B, and the Blues. His love for music prompted him to start playing keyboards at the tender age of 4 and the trumpet at the age of 10. Surprisingly enough, Brian's only singing experience over the years had been in church. It wasn't until he was out with a few friends one evening and they ended up at a local karaoke show where Brian discovered another one of his musical talents...his voice. Not long after his vocal awakening, Brian became a Shooting Star DJ/KJ. Brian moved away for awhile, but not from his music. He became a member of a southern gospel quartet called The Master's Quartet singing 1st Tenor and touring five states in the Midwest. Although being a 1st tenor in that group, he's able to sing in any range, including Bass in songs such as "Goodnight Sweetheart".
Ray Housteau - Ray is the owner of Shooting Star Entertainment, the parent company of The Classics and also co-creator and founding member of the group. Although he has no formal training in music, he is self-taught on the guitar and has honed his singing abilities through years of "hanging-out" with most of the other members of The Classics (as well as other members of the Shooting Star family such as Sgt. Bob, Cody, Russ, and the Adams brothers) at Shooting Star karaoke shows and many singing and recording sessions in his basement. Ray also is The Classic's undisputed king of music trivia (despite what the other guys may tell you) He also is a dedicated father of two boys and practices Tae Kwan Do. Ray also owns and manages the Boardman investment office of Capital Securities of America, Inc.
Ray also was a cast member of the CBS Emmy award winning show - The Amazing Race 7!
